According to EU REACh, PFOA, its salts and PFOA-related substances cause unacceptable risk to human health and the environment. PFOA is a persistent bioaccumulative and toxic chemical comprising 8 perfluorinated carbons (C8). Subsequently, EU REACh will enforce PFOA Regulation restricting perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA), its salts and PFOA-related substances in PTFE products w.e.f. 4th July, 2020 as mentioned in entry 68 of Annex XVII list published by ECHA.

CONVENTIONAL MICROPOWDERS

Conventional PTFE Micropowders produced by standard irradiation method leads to the formation of PFOA at substantially higher levels than the restricted limit causing extreme occupational health hazards and environmental pollution. Ineffective techniques to remove or wash PFOA does not address the inherent production of C8 impurities in the degradation process. Currently, most PTFE Micropowders in the market are produced by irradiation of HMW PTFE to LMW PTFE Micropowders, leading to the release of these impurities.

GFL, being an established Fluoropolymers manufacturer, has invested in clean technologies that are PFOA free and therefore, our Micropowders are not affected by the EU REACh restrictions. GFL offers non-irradiated PTFE Micropowders produced through two alternative technologies.

INOLUBTM 200 Series

DIRECTLY POLYMERISED MICROPOWDERS:
No traces of PFOA

INOLUBTM 300 Series

THERMALLY DEGRADATED MICROPOWDERS:
PFOA content < 5ppb
